Brody, three, of Sonoma lives with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. When presented with an opportunity for a wish, he chose to visit Sesame Place in Pennsylvania. Brody’s wish came true, courtesy of UnitedHealthcare and Make-A-Wish®.
UnitedHealthcare sponsored Brody’s wish through its national alliance with Make-A-Wish® to support the organization and its mission of granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
According to Brody’s wish granters, he loves everything Elmo. Brody has many Elmo toys and lights up when he sees Elmo on Sprout TV, which he watches frequently. Brody will be accompanied on his trip by his parents, brother and half-sister.
Other favorites of Brody include:
Restaurant – Burger King
Color – Blue and green
Music – Country
Book/Movie/TV show – Elmo
Food – Hot dogs, pizza
Candy – Gummies
Sports team – Giants
“We are very happy to play a role in making Brody’s wish trip come true,” said Brandon Cuevas, CEO, UnitedHealthcare of California. “Make-A-Wish truly makes a positive impact in our communities and brings joy to so many children courageously facing life-threatening medical conditions. We hope Brody enjoys meeting Elmo at Sesame Place.”
As part of a renewed three-year, $3 million alliance with UnitedHealth Group, each of Make-A-Wish’s 62 chapters is eligible to receive wish-granting funds. UnitedHealth Group has funded more than 1,250 wishes beginning with its initial three-year, $4.5 million alliance in 2007. Additionally, UnitedHealth Group employees and the dollar-for-dollar company match have resulted in more than $2.8 million in donations through the company’s annual United Giving Campaign.
