Oppose Oyster Farm Reso at Sonoma Council Mon June 3
Sorry for two posts in a row, but I just learned that the City Council is forwarding a resolution in support of the Drake's Bay Oyster Farm in Point Reyes National Seashore, which is violating the federal Wilderness Act by pushing to stay in business even after its lease expired last year. It would set a precedent for other in-holders of public lands to re-neg on their commitments. Read more here: http://eacmarin.org/drakes-estero-wilderness/ If you can, please send a note to the Council members or go to the meeting on Monday night at 6 pm. See emails below. Here is the text of what I just send them: Dear Council Members, I was surprised to read in the Index Tribune about the Drakes Bay Oyster Farm resolution. Would you please consider taking it off the consent calendar and put it on the main agenda? I would like to testify in opposition. The issue here is not about whether the oyster farm is sustainable or not, but about undermining the federal Wilderness Act.
