Sonoma County Republican Party Announces Annual Silent Auction

September 2, 2013, Santa Rosa, California:  On the evening of September 13, 2013, the Sonoma County Republican Party will hold its annual fundraising benefit dinner and silent auction.  The event will be held at the FountainGrove Inn Hotel in Santa Rosa from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.

Throughout the evening the dinner guests will hear from several captivating local and state elected Republican leaders.  The keynote speaker is Jim Brulte, Chairman of the California Republican Party.   We will also hear from Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, who is a California Gubernatorial candidate.

Mr. Brulte served 14 years in the California Legislature as Senate Republican leader.  During that time he developed a national reputation and had focused his efforts on education, regulatory reform, crime reduction, and legislation to improve California’s business climate.  His experience in government also includes service on the staff of the late Senator S.I. Hayakawa and in the Reagan administration.  He recently completed a term as a member of the board of visitors of the United States Naval Academy.  At the upcoming fundraising dinner on September 13, Mr. Brulte will be sharing his plan and vision for the California Republican Party.

Assemblyman, Tim Donnelly, who is a candidate for the 2014 California Governor race, will speak about current issues impacting the state and the local counties he represents.  In the Legislature, Tim has earned the reputation of a conservative who holds steadfast to his beliefs: fighting illegal immigration, defending public safety, removing restrictions on business growth, and protecting the taxpayers' pocketbooks.  As the 33rd District Assemblyman, Tim serves as Vice Chair of the Committee on Elections and Redistricting.  He also serves on the Appropriations Committee, Rules Committee, Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee and Joint Legislative Audit Committee.

The annual fundraising event will feature dinner and silent auction items from Sonoma County local businesses, restaurants and wineries.  The cost is $60 per person.  Tickets are available online at www.somonagop.org or call 707.228.8331.

"Throughout the evening the dinner guests will hear from several captivating local and state elected Republican leaders." Really? "Several??" My former party (left it in '03) is in such sorry shape in this state that the dinner could easily accommodate ALL local & state elected Republicans in the Mens' Room & still have unoccupied urinals. The speakers may be 'captivating' to those in the room, but one doesn't have to be a math wiz to see that voters aren't the least bit captivated. Wake up, please. We need a two party democracy. This is 2013, not 1813. Women, minorities, gays, immigrants and the poor all vote and the GOP's ideology has lost -- no, deliberately offended -- all of them. Hint: Those voters outnumber all the old white Confederate evangelical Chamber of Commerce rich guys and farmers in California. One more caution: Remember "Boca Raton." Don't say or do anything memorably stupid that will be picked up on all the secret cellphone videos set up on the serving carts by 'the help,' or in the flower vase on your table, or in the restrooms or in the purses & pockets of people in attendance who you might assume are your friends. To repeat: In California, the GOP has very few friends.
