Chanukah Candle Lighting at 5 p.m. Tonight in Healdsburg

Traditional menorah lighting ceremony at Oakville Grocery.

The annual lighting of the Chanukah menorah, or candelabra, will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Oakville Grocery on Healdsburg Plaza.

Previous years' event drew several who lit candles, sang songs and prayers, danced and spun the traditional Chanukah dreydl, a four-sided top marked with Hebrew letters.

This year's event will also include hot latkes (potato pancakes) and live music.

The menorah lighting ceremony is sponsored by the Chabad Jewish Center of Sonoma County.

Chanukah, also spelled Hanukkah, begins Dec. 8 and lasts for eight days.

Hi Kathy: This story ran yesterday, Tuesday, Dec. 11, so the headline for Tuesday was changed to "tonight" when the story was updated at midday Tuesday. It has been dropped off the home page now, since the event has already happened last night. Thanks for your eagle eye to make sure we are on track. I apologize if the story wasn't taken off the home page quickly enough. Thanks.
