Christmas Tree Disposal in Sonoma City and Valley

Girl Scouts and garbage collection companies can help you recycle or dispose of your tree.

When you're ready to put Christmas behind you and think of the New Year, there are several options for getting rid of your tree.

All of these options require you to remove the tree stand and all lights, decorations and tinsel. Also, no flocked trees will be accepted.

Residents can cut up their trees and put them in the regular yard waste cans, then the trees will be turned into amendment for gardens by Sonoma Compost. For any questions, call Sonoma Garbage Collectors, (707) 996-7555.

Sonoma County Waste Management Agency will pick up trees in the unincorporated areas for composting by Sonoma Compost. The tree compost is reported to be prized for its acidity, according to the agency's website.

Cut trees so they completely fit inside the regular yard waste container. Trees sticking out of the container can interfere with the lifting arm on the truck. Set the container out on the yard waste collection date for your area. Click here to find the pick up dates.

Girl Scouts' Collection in City and Valley

Girl Scouts will collect whole trees, curbside, in either area on three weekends: Dec. 29-30, Jan 5-6 and Jan. 12-13. Leaves trees out by 9 a.m. on the Saturday of your preferred weekend. There is a suggested donation of $10. Please leave cash or a check under your doormat or in a visible area.
