First Sonoma County Baby of 2012

Mateo Edgardo Marquez was born just before 8am on Sunday, Jan. 1

 

 

Petaluma baby Mateo Edgardo Marquez, born at 7:57am Sunday morning at Petaluma Valley Hospital, is the first baby of the year born in Sonoma County. Mateo weighed in at 8 pounds and 5 ounces and is already at home with parents Edgar and Alicia Marquez.

“We are so happy to be starting the new year with a new baby in our home,” Edgar Marquez, 25, told Patch.

The Marquezes are originally from Jalisco, Mexico and have lived in Petaluma for three years. Alicia works as a teller at a local bank and Edgar is a construction worker. Mateo is their second child.

The first baby of the year in the Bay Area was born at the stroke of midnight at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley to San Lorenzo residents. The second baby was born at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Clara at 12:01 a.m. In Santa Rosa, Maria Rose Sansone was born shortly before 2pm at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
