Get Out Weekend Planner: March 5

The weather is improving, Spring is nearly here and people are longing to say "Goodbye, Winter" and "Hello, Spring!" Here are some outings that will let you do just that.

WATER WISDOM TOUR

When/Where: Saturday, March 5, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., . Call Julie at 996-0712, x115 to reserve. Space is limited. 

Why Go:  Learn how to catch rainwater, watch water filtration and reuse, observe recycled grey water, drip irrigation and organic farming at local parks and residences. And, the tour is free. Bring lunch and something to drink.

CLASSICAL GUITAR AT

When/Where The winery’s live music on Saturday afternoons series continues with classical guitarist Eric Cabalo. Landmark Vineyard, 101 Adobe Canyon Road, Kenwood. 1 – 4 p.m.

Why Go: Free concert, beautiful surroundings, what's not to like?

MARDI GRAS PARTY 

Where/When: March 5, noon – 4 p.m. at , 23574 Arnold Drive. Tickets $35 advance; $40 at the door. Reserve at 934-4090.

Why Go: Put on a brightly-colored costume and head out to s Saturday afternoon party. Authentic Cajun food, wine and music by the St.Gabriel’s Celestial Brass Band. 

THE SHOWCASE BAND PLAYS AT SCHOLARSHIP DINNER/DANCE  

When/Where Saturday, March 5, the Sons of Italy in America, Valley of the Moon branch.

Why Go: The annual dinner-dance provides college scholarships for seniors. Appetizers and No Host Bar at 5 p.m. with a traditional Italian dinner starting at 6 p.m. Dance from 7-11 p.m. Tickets $25. Call Karen at 938-1295  for more information.

NATURAL HISTORY HIKE 

When/Where: Reservations required by Friday, March 4. Call Bly at 996-0712 X124.

Why Go: Mark Newhouser leads a Spring hike through the Calabazas Creek Open Space Preserve. Experience the beginning of Spring, delight in the wildflowers and open space. The hike is for intermediate to advanced level; come rain or shine. No charge.
