Grab and Go Kids Planner: March 16

Lots of possibilities this week to entertain the kids: laugh at "Big Bad Bruce," take a Planet Walk, check out a sticker factory and/or watch a unique dance performance.

“BIG BAD BRUCE” PUPPET SHOW

Where/when: , Wednesday, March 16 at 4 p.m.

Why: Puppet shows are fun for all ages. This one promises a classic, rollicking good time with humor and plenty of action. The puppets are hand-crafted by award-winning Images in Motion.

PLAY MINIATURE GOLF

Where/when: 19171 Sonoma Hwy in the Maxwell Shopping Center. Open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 till 6 p.m. Friday, 2 till 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. Closed Tuesdays. 996-3616 .

Why: An active, easy-to-play game for the whole family. A hole–in-one wins a free game for the one who nails it.

Price: $5.75  per person; kids under three, $3.00;  seniors, $4.

TAKE A PLANET WALK

Where/when: Ferguson Observatory, Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, 2605 Adobe Canyon Road, Kenwood. 833-6979.

Why: This scale model of the solar system gives a visual demonstration of the distances between the sun and the each of the planets. Begin at the southeast corner of the Observatory parking lot where you’ll see the sign representing the sun. Take the Planet Walk by following the attached map; signs show the nine planets of the solar system. Remember to wear good walking shoes and take water. Note: The trail is steep and rocky between Uranus and Neptune.

Price: $ 8 to park the car.

TOUR MRS. GROSSMAN’S STICKER FACTORY

Where/when: Mrs. Grossman Paper Company, 3810 Cypress Drive. Petaluma 763-1700. Monday through Thursday. Reservations required. Call 1 (800) 429-4549 to reserve.

Why: A one-hour tour that shows kids how stickers get printed, packaged and shipped. They'll learn new decorating ideas and create a sticker postcard.

Price: $3.00 per person. (Individuals going through the tour who buy $20 worth of products, get a $3.00-off coupon.)

NORTH BAY DANCE FESTIVAL 2011

Where/when: Spreckels Performing Arts Center, 5409 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park. March 19, at 7:30 p.m.

Why: A unique dance festival where dance companies (youth and adult) create a collaborative performance. Encourages the work of dancers and choreographers; many dance styles will be performed.

Price: $15 in advance online or by calling 588-3400. $20 at the door.
