Season of Giving: Drives for Canned Food and Toys

What's going on Monday, Dec, 6.

—The season of giving is in full swing in Sonoma. Today B.R. Cohn Winery begins a Holiday Open House and Food Drive for needy familiies. Canned vegetables and fruits, peanut butter and other healthy, non-perishable food items make the best donations.  Deliver them to the B.R. Cohn tasting room any day this week, from 10 am - 5 pm, and receive a complementary wine tasting. The food drive continues through Sunday, Dec. 12.

—This is the last day to give an unwrapped toy to the Infineon High-Powered Toy Drive. Each year the Raceway invites needy children, toddlers to age 12, to their "Race to the Holidays" Christmas Party, held this year on December 11. Leave your gift at one of several places around Sonoma: the Chamber of Commerce office on Broadway,  the on Second Street,  the Sonoma Valley Sun, the Sonoma Index-Tribune, or at Infineon Raceway.

—Weather forecast predicts a rainy Monday. Perfect time to take a leisurely stroll around the Arts Guild of Sonoma's exhibit (140 Napa Street). The exhibit features  new art from regular Guild members, and the art of selected guests. The Guild is a not-for-profit group, featuring local contemporary art.

—Calling parents, coaches, and team managers of soccer players. The Sonoma Valley Youth Soccer Association holds its annual meeting tonight at 7 pm, in room 110 of the Sonoma Community Center. During this meeting members will elect a new Board of Directors for 2011.  Candidates speeches will be no longer than one minute, so come to vote, or come if you're just interested in the game!

—Knitting is one of the most relaxing activites, especially when it's combined with beer.  So pull out those knitting needles and join the group at Murphy's Irish Pub.   Whether you're a beginner or expert, the group trades patterns, know-how and other tips. They meet at 7 p.m., on the first and third Monday of every month. Call Kandi at 935-0660 for more information.
