Sonoma County Hospitals Ready for Federally Funded Birthing Program Launch

$3.5 million grant aims to improve infant nutrition at all five Sonoma County delivery hospitals.

Representatives of all five Sonoma County delivery hospitals will gather at Petaluma Valley Hospital on Wednesday for the launch of a federally-funded program that aims to improve infant nutrition.

The countywide birthing facility upgrades were funded by a $3.5 million, two-year Community Transformation Grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The focus of the grant is providing infants with access to optimal nutrition through breast-feeding. The grant is among 40 awarded nationally.
