--Book-lovers, head to the Friends Book Sale this week. Friends of the Library  get first pick Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 11 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. Sale opens to the public Thursday, continues through Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. each day. Sonoma students (pre-school - 12) may select one book for free.

-- (130 E. Napa St.) hosts Conor Grennan, author of the Little Princes, Thursday, Feb. 17, 7:30 p.m. Grennan’s story is an inspiring tale of his work in a Nepal orphanage, and an example of how one person—even one simply looking for adventure—can make a true difference.

-- (1325 Broadway) hosts this Friday night, February 18, from 7-10 p.m. Indulge your palate with Sonoma Valley wine and sample foods from outstanding local  restaurants. Caterers, food artisans are bringing the most tempting recipes. An olive bar. Sweets, chocolate tastings, and port. $75 before; $85 at the door. 935-0803.

--The Environmental Stewardship Film series presents the documentary, “The River of Renewal” at the 100 Verano Avenue, Feb. 18. The documentary examines the water crisis of the Klamath Basin. Commentary by Becca Lawton, a geologist and director at , follows the film. The free event starts at 6:30 p.m., ends at 8:30 p.m. Parking costs $ 6.
