This Week's Things to Do: March 7

The annual Prestwood School's Library Book Sale opens to the public today. Proceeds from the fair, which runs through Friday, March 11, will be used to buy new books for the school library. Sale hours are Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Go early to snag the best deals!

The Council will tackle amendments to the sign ordinance, and sidewalk displays. The open portion of the Council meeting begins at 6 p.m, but if you’re not planning on attending in person, stay tuned for Sonoma Patch Editor Alexis Fitts' minute-by-minute report on this site. Council meets in the 177 First Street West.

MARDI GRAS’ FAT TUESDAY AT

It's a family event from 5-8 p.m., with balloon animals, mask making and Po-Po the Clown.  Stick around for the Fat Tuesday dinner of spicy sausage, red beans and rice, with cornbread and kings cake (plus hot dogs and chips for the kids). DJ Rick Vegaz starts the dance music at 9 p.m., stopping only when the clock strikes 1:30 a.m. Money from the event goes to the Soroptimists’ Scholarship Fund. SONOMA BUSINESS EXPO 2011 

The Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce holds it’s annual Business Expo Thursday March 10, from 5-7 p.m. The public is invited to visit booths, meet retailers and other business owners. Come say hi to Sonoma Patch, we'll be manning a booth to answer all your questions (and we'll have some sweet Patch-themed swag). Venue: . Free entrance, "Food and Wine Pass," $10.

FIRST YUM BABY PHOTO CONTEST  

If you don’t have a picture of your little one gumming a favorite food, take one today, then enter it in the contest.  A number of sweet prizes are up for grabs, including $500 and a Cannon camera. All the rules are online. No baby? You get to vote on the final 16 photos later in the month.
