After months of anticipation, the Valley of the Moon Certified Farmers Market opened with new management, more vendors and rave reviews.

After months of anticipation - and the occasional spat - the hotly anticipated Valley of the Moon Certified Farmers Market opened Tuesday evening to rave reviews.

"It's a vision that has become a reality for the Plaza and the city of Sonoma," said Sonoma Mayor Laurie Gallian. "It's just so much better this year."

Though the market usually opens in April, the start was pushed back to May.

"Opening night is always a big sell, but this night especially because we were all chomping at the bit, like thoroughbreds out of the gate," said attendee Cam Sanford. "If only we could stop politicizing,"

But there was no talk of politics, as vendors stretched around City Hall, feeding the hundreds of market-goers.
