Beervana a Happy Success

There were over 50 beers available for tasting Friday night, and almost as many awards given to the home brewers in the crowd. Check out our photo gallery and add your own pix!

It didn't take long for the parking lot of the Veterans Memorial Hall to fill up and spill vehicles over into the Arnold Field lot. Not Little Leagures but beer lovers converged at the top of First St. West Friday night for the third annual Beervana (or Beer-vana, spellings differ), a fundraiser for the Sonoma Community Center.

Over 600 in attendance were in attendance, according SCC events manager Tom Montan, bringing in over $19,000 in revenue. Even though it's still early to know the actual benefit, even once expenses are deducted, "This makes this event one of SCC's biggest events and fundraisers," sai Montan.

Founder and host David Daniels made the awards Friday night, and a complete list will be published on Patch as soon as it is released. The Grand Prize is having your beer brewed up by Petaluma's Dempsey's Brewery for pouring there and at the three area HopMonk Taverns, including the one in Sonoma.

Grand Prize this year went to Greg Rasmussen from Forestville for his Robust Porter. Rasmussen, like many other participants this year, had multiple entires in several categories.
