Sandy Young is Featured Artist at Guild's First Friday

She combines kiln-formed glass with painting and photography.

Award-winning artist Sandy Young will be featured at this month's First Friday reception at Arts Guild of Sonoma. The guild opens a new exhibit each month at its gallery off the Plaza.

Young is a mixed-media artist. In July, she received awards at the "California Works" show at California State Fair and the Sacramento Fine Arts Center. She uses layering of transparencies, photographs, writing, marks and forms to represent the "multidimensionality of individual life experience."

Arts Guild of Sonoma is the oldest continually operating artists' collective in California, according to a news release. It's located at 140 East Napa St. Admission is free.
