Gallery: Film Festival's Opening Night Festivities

The 16th Sonoma International Film Festival came to life last night, with at least two kick-off receptions and a local premiere of "The Iceman"

From the first gathering of film aficionados at MacArthur Place to the Opening Night After-Party at General's Daughter, this year's Sonoma International Film Festival was dizzy with its own excitement.

In between, tough-guy actor Ray Liotta and director Ariel Vroman screened the new gangland action film "The Iceman," starring Michael Shannon as a cold, pent-up mob assassin trying to maintain a normal family life. The two-hour movie was screened to a packed house at Sebastiani Theatre.

Sponsors and SIFF Passholders mingled with the directors and producers of some of the 100-plus films in the festival at all events, and danced to the Clapton-esque blues rock of Eight Street 5 at the General's Daughter mansion on West Spain.
