Honoring Vets and Helping Families This Weekend

Veterand Day Weekend had a huge number of events going on, and we found a few to highlight in the Sonoma Patch events calendar.

--- The American Legion Jack London Post #489 and the VFW Bear Flag Post 1943 shall honor veterans at a Friday starting at 11 a.m.  at the Veterans Memorial Buildings and Community Centers featuring guest speaker Becky Peterson, a Sonoma resident and former Marine Corps colonel, who currently acts as special assistant to the chancellor at the California State University system on veteran and military and education matters.

--- Saturday at 6 p.m. is the t at the Veterans Memorial Buildings and Community Centers, to honor all the brave men and women who are in foreign lands without their own families.

--- These continue to be very challenging economic times, making more important than ever. All of the non-perishable food items collected will be given to Friends in Sonoma Helping (FISH) and the Redwood Empire Food Bank in Santa Rosa.
