Jack London Piano Club to Mark 25th Year with Mother's Day Concert

Take Mom to hear Jack and Charmian London's 1901 Steinway Grand at the House of Happy Walls, Sunday from 4 - 6:30 pm

The peripatetic author Jack London, who came to rest at last in Glen Ellen, made sure to include a piano in his household, a 1901 Steinway grand.

Until 1988 Jack London's piano sat untouched for 30 years, since the death of Jack's wife, Charmian. Then park rangers and volunteers launched the Jack London Piano Club to once again make music with the Steinway grand.

The piano in the Museum in the House of Happy Walls has been played to entertain museum visitors since the club began in 1988. Over 60 pianists over the years have been members of the Club, and currently there are 25 active volunteer pianists.

This Sunday afternoon, the Jack London Piano Club marks its 25th anniversary – and celebrates Mother’s Day – with a special Spring Concert to benefit Jack London State Historic Park.
