Museum to Feature Ferlinghetti Film
Wednesday night screening of movie about painter, poet and Beat Generation icon
The is adding another dimension to "Cross-Pollination," their on the paintings of Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
Wednesday, the museum will screen "Ferlinghetti: A film by Christopher Felver," about the painter, poet and Beat Generation icon. The features archival photographs and historical footage of Ferlinghetti and his contemporaries and fans, including Allen Ginsberg, Michael McClure, Dennis Hopper, Dave Eggers and Pulitzer Prize winning poet Gary Snyder.
Other prominent figures from the literary, political and art worlds further underscore the enormous social impact of Ferlinghetti's legacy.

According to the summary on IMDB of "Ferlinghetti: A City Light," a 2009 film co-directed by Felver, "Ferlinghetti's quiet, behind the scenes demeanor and disarming mien may have assuaged, or even fooled, certain opponents, while in reality he was a literary mercenary, a rebel at the forefront of our own cultural revolution."
The film will screen at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $7 for SVMA members, $10 general admission. The exhibit "Cross-Pollination" will continue at the museum through Sunday, Sept. 23.
