Sonoma Kids Clean Up in Oakland Ballet Company's Nutcracker

Six dancers were cast in Graham Lustig's The Nutcracker at Oakland's Paramount Theater

For aspiring dancers the winter season means a first glimpse of fame: ahh...the Nutcracker.

In addition to the local production, several students from the were cast in the Oakland Ballet Company's production of the classic ballet – choreographed by Graham Lustig in Oakland's Paramount Theater.

The students were recruited to fill out the ballet's 'party scene' by Conservatory director Patricia O'Reilly, with aid from Coreen Danaher, a former student who teaches at the school and is a dancer in the Oakland Ballet Company.

Elementary-level dancers in the party scene include David Cole III, Ian Cole, Eli Fucile, Leo Hirsch, and Roam Neff. 

James Melendy, an advanced-level dancer took part in 'Russian' alongside Company dancer DuRon Chambers.

“It’s such an exciting opportunity to dance with professionals in such a celebrated production," said Melendy.
