Cabaret is part of the Sonoma Theatre Alliance's Festival of Theatre 2013. Performances will continue Thursdays through Saturday's at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through July 28.

The performance is directed by Cat Austin and features designers, musicians, dancers and singers from throughout the Bay Area.

Musical director Rachel Robinson will be leading a five-piece band accompanying Kander and Ebb’s enduring songs, like “Cabaret,” “Maybe This Time,” “Don’t Tell Mama” and “Wilkommen.”

Sonoma resident Lee is cast in the leading role of Sally Bowles.

“I am so honored to be working with Cat again, especially in such a beautiful new space and with such incredible talent,” Lee said.

“We worked together back in 2003 and then again last year in 'A Chorus Line.' This reunion has felt so good. To play my dream role in my home town with one of the most talented directors I know is beyond a dream come true. And this show is like nothing Sonoma has ever seen before.”

The performance is choreographed by Solano County's Staci Arriaga.

Austin is known for her non-traditional casting and her penchant for a new take on a tried-and-true piece.

“Staci and I both enjoy working with actors, singers and dancers who are willing to explore outside-the-box interpretation of their characters,” said Austin, “and this cast truly delivers.”

The stage concept, designed by Austin, includes set pieces and artwork by Jean François Revon and well-known Sonoma artist John Curry.
