Sonoma Weekend Planner July 22-24

Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Check out some of the things on the Sonoma Calendar and see if there's something for you.

Saturday:

Learn how and why to prune fruit trees, selected vegetables, roses, perennials and shrubs. Accomplished landscape designer Maile Arnold will discuss summer vs. dormant pruning, and provide hands-on pruning demonstrations. Please bring your own pruning tools and gloves.

Reservations are required by Friday, July 22, 2011. The workshop is from 10 a.m. till noon at , 19996 Seventh Street East (between MacArthur and Denmark Streets) in Sonoma.

Saturday:

The 2nd week of Mozart includes Mozart’s Symphony No.20 in D clarinet concerto with one of the Bay Area's finest clarinetists, Mark Brandenburg. The festival finishes with Mozart’s dramatic Symphony No. 39.

If you go: Tickets are between $30-$65 and can be bought by clicking here The festival is from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Gundlach Bundschu Winery, 2000 Denmark Street in Sonoma.

 

Saturday and Sunday:

Don't miss Gloria Ferrer Caves and Vineyards 18th annual Catalan Festival with a celebration of the winery's Spanish roots and the opening of the winery in July 1986. In addition to the traditional Sardana dances, guests can enjoy a paella cooking demonstration, flamenco guitar performances and more.  Dance, drink, eat and be merry!

If you go: Admission price is $50 per person if purchased by July 21st OR $55 at door. Click here to purchase eTICKETS. Your online receipt is your eTICKET, you will not be receiving any tickets in the mail. The festival is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gloria Ferrer Winery, 23555 Arnold Drive, in Sonoma.

 

Sunday:

Join friends and family in this lovely fundraiser, a walk in the beautiful Oak Hill Farm led by the farm's owner and manager, Ann Teller. Anne will walk with the group, talk about the history of the property, and the organic farm's practices. A light lunch will be served in the White Barn to finish the hike, with wine provided by Haywood Winery. The walk is a benefit for the beautiful Sonoma Overlook Trail in Sonoma, maintained with the help of volunteers.

If you go: The requested donation is $35 and space is limited to 30 participants so reserve your place soon by contacting Hope Nisson at hopedn@sbcglobal.net or by phone at 707-996-5526. The event is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and begins at the Red Barn at Oak Hill, 15101 Sonoma Highway in Sonoma.
