Sonoma Weekend Planner June 10-12

Friday:

Fishtank Ensemble play “high-energy, cross-pollinated gypsy music.” They bring their unique blend of Romanian, Gypsy jazz, Flamenco, Balkan, Turkish and Tango influenced music to Andrews Hall tonight and if you haven’t had a chance to hear them, check out this show, you're in for a treat.

Professional Organizer, Susanne Otteman helps her clients gain control over their office and home environments and teaches practical, simple techniques to get you started.

Saturday:

Saturday Market is back until the end of September. Enjoy fresh produce, seasonal fruit, local cheeses, fresh flowers, and sustainably-farmed meat, plus fine art by local artists. Drop by the Rotary Community Kitchen for seasonal breakfasts prepared by local chefs. Opening day (today) features in the kitchen and a watercolor demonstration by artist Ditte Jensen in our Maloney WaterWise Garden. Celebrate sustainability in all its forms at the Saturday Market.

If you go: The market is open from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. at the Sonoma Community Center, 276 E Napa Street in Sonoma.  Don’t forget to bring your own bags!


Saturday and Sunday:

The and Cittaslow Pollinator Pals are looking for volunteers interested in learning about and counting bees! On Saturday Entomologist Dr. Gordon Frankie and Lab Research Assistant Marissa Ponder, both from the Urban Bee Lab at UC Berkeley, will teach you how to catch, identify, and count bees. On Sunday apply your new wisdom as volunteers count bees at three Sonoma locations. Finish the weekend with a party for all your hard work. Nominal fee of $30 includes refreshments, and bee resource guide. Proceeds benefit continued bee education to the community. Saturday training is mandatory to attend Sunday bee count. Age 16 and over. Space is limited.

If you go:  Call (707) 935-3420 for reservations. Saturday’s bee count is from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. while Sunday’s bee count is from 10:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. at the Sonoma Ecology Center, 20 E. Spain Street in Sonoma.
