Spotted: Lady Gaga Visits Wine Country

Celebrities aren't foreign in Sonoma: We're used to visits from the glitterati, who come in to town to marry, wine and dine, and occasionally visit the in our backyard.

But a visit from the grand dame of celebrity bears mention. Over the weekend we received several tips via e-mail, twitter and facebook that Lady Gaga was in town, dining at Girl and the Fig and making stops all over town.

Girl and the Fig confirmed that the singer, best known for her performance artist cum muse brand of aesthetic (and, of course, her meat dress,) did indeed join them for Sunday lunch. According to the restaurant's facebook, the songstress dined on mussels, a beet salad, a croque madame and a few of the restaurant's signature cocktail: the Fig Kiss.

Gaga seemed to be in good spirits, posing for fan pictures after dining with her boyfriend. "She was not wearing her meat dress," Girl and the Fig posted, "We would have loved to wrap her in John's award winning coppa though,"

Girl and the Fig just a single stop on Gaga's trek around the Sonoma: she was spotted all over town, including a visit to specialty food purveyor . 

"When she came in I just noticed the stiletto heals, and I knew that she couldn’t be from Sonoma," said owner Gayle Jenkins, "But when she started to talk, that’s when I actually took a closer look and realized it was her."

Gaga was kind to the staff, even posing for a photograph, at right. "She was just really really sweet, really nice," Jenkins said.

Throughout the day Gaga's entourage – three young men driving Audi sports-cars – came back to Sonoma's Best to replenish their supply of sandwiches and Blue Bottle coffee, Jenkins said. She sent the men with a signature brisket sandwich, for Gaga to sample.

Gaga's next move was Norh: She took dinner at Geyserville’s Catelli’s Restaurant, according to Biteclubbeats.com, a food news blog.

What was Gaga doing in town? Her usually active twitter account gives no hints, it's been dead for a few days.

So, is the singer buying a house? Rumors abound that she took some viewings at Sonoma's and in Napa. Or, was she just taking a relaxing/romantic weekend?
