The Transcendence Theatre Company, which last year gave the Sonoma Valley the award-winning Broadway Under the Stars concert series, has extended their agreement with the Valley of the Moon Natural History Association (VMNHA) to remain in Jack London State Park through 2019.
“It is an honor and a dream come true for our company to be able to call Jack London State Park and Sonoma County our home now and for years to come,” said Artistic Director Amy Miller.
The Transcendence Theatre Company and their theatrical and musical events, which feature wine, pre-show picnicking, and Broadway performers in concert at the open-air winery ruins of the park, have played a vital role in keeping the state park thriving despite budget cuts and their projected shut down.
Last summer the Broadway Under The Stars concert series attracted 7,500 attendees, and raised over $27,000 for the park. This summer $5 of each ticket sold to Broadway Under The Stars will go directly to benefit Jack London State Park.
The Broadway Under The Stars concert series won the Broadway World San Francisco Award for “Best Special Theater Event” for the 2012 season.
“We are excited beyond words for a continued partnership with VMNHA as we collectively pioneer a deep, lasting and inspirational tradition here in wine country," said Miller. "We look forward to sharing countless transcendent evenings with audiences from around the world in Jack London’s breathtaking Valley of the Moon.”
The 2013 season, playing June 28 -August 31, 2013, includes four separate themed concerts, along with a soon to be announced artist series, all of which will feature wine, and pre-event picnicking alongside the vineyards of the historic park. Featured performers for the 2013 season have yet to be announced.
Tickets cost $29-125, with discounts on ‘early-bird’ tickets purchased before May 1st, 2013. Group tickets are available at a special discount for individuals and organizations.
