Photos of the Week Portray A Little Bit of Everything

Check out our picks for best photos of the week from Oct. 14-20

Sonoma Valley Patch editor Julie Pendray starts off a new feature we plan to run every weekend on the North Bay Patch sites called Photos of the Week.

We will be featuring the best photos from Sonoma Valley, Napa Valley, Rohnert-Park Cotati, Petaluma, Healdsburg and Suisun City Patch sites each weekend.

Julie covered an annual festival over in Glen Ellen and ran the photos in this story on Sonoma Valley Patch. The festival was a community affair as nearly all of Glen Ellen and surrounding areas came out for a bit of hometown fun.

She also attended Oktoberfest in Cotati, where she gathered these shots of beer maidens and video of the oom-pah-pah band.

Over in Napa, a local band with a big sound readied for one of the biggest shows of their careers as musicians and Napa Valley Patch Editor Louisa Hufstader was there to capture the excitement.

Fairfield students are becoming familiar with what it takes to be in the field of public safety through an innovative vocational program at Fairfield's Amy Blanc Elementary School. Whitney Skillman popped in on this class and got a glimpse of what the cadets are learning as part of the Public Safety Academy.

The big story over in Healdsburg is the dismissal of various coaches over at Healdsburg High School, including the school's athletic director. Editor Keri Brenner was at a recent school board meeting in which the students came out in support of the coaches and snapped some photos that tell of this hot-button issue unfolding in Healdsburg.

Also this week, Petaluma Editor Karina Ioffee caught up with Steve Kay, the editor a newspaper that serves local cattle ranchers and retailers with news from the cattle industry and the trends that affect the local beef industry.

Kay's unique newspaper is among of handful of local publications that Petaluma ranchers can rely upon.
