Discover the benefits of planting spring vegetables in raised beds: save your back from heavy work, reduce pests, and enjoy longer growing times. Learn water conservation strategies suited to your soil. Go inside and find out how to turn kitchen waste into composting. Make sustainability an everyday practice that benefits your garden and attracts local wild life.
If you go:  No registration necessary. If you’re interested, come on over from 10 a.m. - noon to the Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St. in Sonoma.

Saturday:

Americans For Safe Access, Sonoma Alliance for Medical Marijuana (SAMM) and Sonoma Patient Group present the film 'What If Cannibis Cured Cancer Cancer.’ There will be an acoustic music opening with Sonoma Valley native and Country Swing Hall of Fame recipient Tommy Thomsen with a discussion and question opportunity with Dr. Jeffrey Hergenrather, who is featured in this film.  The film is narrated by former President of the California Arts Council and Emmy Award winner Peter Coyote.

Body Language 2011 features recent figurative sculpture in wood, ceramic, bronze, resin and steel by seven sculptors.  Featured artists include Emil Alzamora, Dina Angel-Wing, Jane Burton, Judson Chatfield, Carole Feuerman, Mike Riegel and Carol Schwartz.

If you go: The opening reception is from 2 p.m.to 4 p.m. at , 23588 Arnold Drive in Sonoma. The show runs until September 4, 2011.

 

Sunday:

B.R. Cohn Winery is pleased to announce their annual Father’s Day Sunday BBQ and release of the 2008 Olive Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Port. In honor of Father’s Day, complementary wine tasting along with Port tasting is offered to all attending Fathers! Along with softball and a Liars "Dice Tournament, a barbecue prepared by Rob Larmen’s includes your choice of his baby back ribs, beef brisket, smoked chicken breast as well as a side choice.
