Celebrate: It's Cinco de Mayo

Where will you ring in the cultural – or bacchanal – festivities?

 

Yup, it's . Depending on who you ask the holiday – celebrated on May 5 – is a festive celebration of Mexican culture, or an opportunity for some serious bar hopping.

In Sonoma there's plenty of opportunity for either.

1. Stage your own celebration. Here are some to whip up in a flash, and here's your soundtrack. (Done and done.)

2. has a full day of entertainment scheduled. Sip $5 margaritas, watch a folkloric dance group, listen to the Carlos Herrera Band and then top it off with some karaoke – all before 9 p.m.

3. At cultures will merge: Executive Chef Maria Robledo will serve Mexican family recipes paired with Robledo wines. Folkloric dance, live music and wine specials top off the day. The festival runs from noon to 4 p.m., $45 general, $35 for wine club members.

4. Don't forget La Casa Restaurant – they'll be serving their full menu, special margaritas, with traditional DJ led play-list revving up the patio.
