Jess Petty plays trumpet and flugelhorn, sings in a strong jazz vocal style that is his own, and is considered a world-class musician. He began his musical career in the Monterey Bay area, gigging with other musicians, and studied with Bud Clooney, a great trumpeter with the Harry James band. He was the featured singer with the Hamilton Air Force Band, and shortly became the featured singer with the prestigious Airmen of Note in Washington, D.C. After discharge, he headed his own groups, playing Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and other venues. He has worked with Madeline Eastman, Terry Henry, Rex Allen, and the late Bob Lucas, to name a few.
