Local Businesses Shine at 2011 Business Expo

Chamber of Commerce highlights old and new faces in the local business scene.

Did you make it to the 2011 Sonoma Business Expo?

If you were among the hundreds who browsed the booths in the Veterans Center last Thursday, you may have noticed the Patch team, handing out mints and water bottles and explaining to attendees via a handy iPad how to or load on an event to the Patch.com site.

The most heartening thing about the event: Sonoma Patch wasn't the newest face in the room.

We had a great time hanging out with the new branch manager at the  Sonoma branch of the Bank of Marin, and chowing down on brownies courtesy of the just-opened Community Cafe.

There's even new tech innovations coming to the area. We hunkered down with the founder of A Bright Idea, a Baltimore-based ad agency with a soon-to-be-launched Sonoma-based business listing site and a new office in Glen Ellen.

Not that there weren't old favorites among the dozens of booths - we had a delightful time hanging out with the Infineon representatives and the folks from Sonoma's Sister Cities organization.

Sonoma County is one of the nation's top locally sourced business economies, and it certainly shows in the Sonoma Valley.
