New Steel is up at Sonoma Valley Hospital

The seismic retrofit and new facilities are due to be completed by November this year.

In spite of recent rain, Otto Construction managed to get the steel up for the new wing at Sonoma Valley Hospital recently.

The effort is part of a $31 million seismic retrofit and facilities enhancement. It includes a new emergency room, a surgical center with three operating rooms and new staff facilities.

Most of the work is being funded by a general obligation bond approved in 2008. The hospital district's capital campaign also has drawn some "very major donors," board chair Bill Boerum told Patch recently. "There are also smaller sources of money available through the state, as well as lease money."
