Taking it to the Streets: the Volt Comes to Sonoma

A gas-free ride about town.

The Chevy Volt  was released onto the market as Chevrolet's answer to gas guzzling: the fully electric car is a tough competitor to the Nissan LEAF_.

As part of the 2011 Sonoma International Film Festival, Sonoma Mayor Laurie Gallian received one as a loaner - an eco-friendly chariot around town.  Along with local transit expert Richard Schreuder, Sonoma Patch took a tour of the cutting-edge vehicle.

Wow! Though it does cost alot more than an equivalent gas guzzler, this is an amazing break through. With today's gas prices, you'd probably make up for the price difference before you realized it.

Since The price of Gas or a Barrel of Oil is no longer a Supply and Demand product (Like they would like for us to believe)but a Speculators Market like Stocks and Bonds, We will continue to see Gas Double to $8.00 in the not to distant future. There is no Rhyme or Reason for this. We can only use less of this product and drive sparely. By the time this happens, we will have started to make our moves to this kind of transportation. Then Gas will plummet down, so we are fooled to believe that the Gas Is the most economical. I hope by then this country will wise up and buy Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf , Toyota Prius etc. Not only is this good for our environment , but we are sending a message to the greedy speculators. The combustion engine is way over a 100 years old. It's time for a change.
