Tuesday's the Night for Farmers Market

It's not just honey and plums. There's music, tug-of-war, tarot and birthday cake, too, at tonight's Farmers Market

For one thing a first-rate jazz band is playing in the Grinstead Amphitheater, from 6 to 8:30, sponsored by the . It'll be Akira Tana and The Secret Agent Band, featuring vocalist Annie Sellick. Drummer Tana fronts what looks like a terrific outfit, including Brian Ho on the Hammond B3, to back the Memphis-born vocalist.

Then there's the 50th anniversary of the , and they're having a Birthday Party. "Grab your chair and picnic and head down to the Plaza at 5:30 pm, look for the blue and white balloons," they tell us. "Enjoy free birthday cake!"  Work it off with tug-of-war, volleyball, an obstacle course and other activities.

The market itself runs 5:30 to dusk, and vendors include farm-fresh, ready-to-eat, packaged and artisan food and skills, such as knife-sharpening and tarot. Check out their Facebook for images from last week's Farmers Market.

Definitely the thing to do on Tuesday evening in Sonoma. Visit Valley of the Moon Certified Farmer's Market for more information.
