Weekend in Sonoma, July 6 - 8

Lots to do if you like warm weather, wine, music, the arts, and community.

 

As if over Sonoma Plaza, the and the 26th annual Fall Music Classic at B.R. Cohn weren't enough in the way of tradition, here comes the first .

Featuring a line-up of reggae and other musical artists, including Sister Carol and Junior Toots (son of the great Toots Hibbert),  plus artisan vendors, a kids zone, community building and cultural awareness events and displays, the summer's first of four Musical Markets is this Saturday at the .

According to James Marshall Berry on Sonomanews, "Local promoter, Bo Sapper, producer of the Harmony Festival that is taking a year off, has partnered with James Hahn and Gabriel Salkin" to present the event. Inquiries by Patch to their email produced no results.

If you want more details you should probably just buy a ticket - at or - and head on over there Saturday afternoon. Starts at 4 pm, costs around $20 depending, kids under 10 free.

Other events in town this weekend include the , tonight Friday at 6:00; the usual Live Music at both Friday (Sonoma Mountain Band) and Saturday (Andrew Freeman) nights at 8; plus live bands at the Hopmonk Sonoma with Timothy O'Neil "folkgrass" duo on Friday night at 9. also has afternoon shows on both weekend days, with acoustic popster Greg Lamboy on Saturday and Americana performer Michael Castle on Sunday, both at 1 pm.

Theatrically, the two plays in rep at the Sonoma Community Center continue this weekend with on Friday and Sunday at 8 and Saturday at 3, and Saturday at 8 and Sunday at 3 pm.

They can't give up their , with their new American-inspired menu options and Red, White and Blue cheese pairings. On Sunday, July 8, they'll repeat the July 4 brunch, the one so rudely interrupted by the .

is the location for Saturday's Shop and Support School Libraries sale. The thriftshop will donate 100% of their proceeds to elementary school libraies, in partnership with the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation, from 10 a.m. to 6.
