Sonoma Valley Health Care District Board Names Sharon Nevins As Chair

The Sonoma Valley Health Care District Board has announced Sharon Nevins has moved to the position of Board Chair. She has been a Board member since 2011 and most recently served as the Board’s Treasurer.  

A community resident since 2008, Nevins has served on the Hospital’s Finance Committee and the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee before being appointed to the Board in 2011. She holds a BA from the University of Missouri, an MA from the Stanford School of Medicine and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Nevins brings to the Board considerable experience with public and not-for-profit hospitals, with a focus on financial and planning issues. She has held the position of Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Health, City and County of San Francisco; Acting Chief Financial Officer at Laguna Honda Hospital; and has served as a consultant to major not-for-profit hospitals and chains, municipal hospitals and the Federal and State governments.

Nevins replaces Bill Boerum, who assumes the role of Secretary. Other appointments announced by the Board include Kevin Carruth, who moves to 1st Vice Chair; Jane Hirsch, who becomes 2nd Vice Chair; and Peter Hohorst who assumes the role of Treasurer.

Sonoma Valley Hospital was founded in 1946 as a non-profit district hospital. It is governed under the Bylaws of the Sonoma Valley Health Care District by a publicly elected Board of Directors.  Directors serve four-year terms, with elections taking place during general elections for local, State or national offices.
