Wine and the Web releases CellarCart for Winery eCommerce
Entry-level ecommerce to help empower small winemakers
SONOMA, CA - James Marshall Berry, owner of JMB Web Consulting, has announced the release of an addition to the Wine and the Web product offerings, with the release of CellarCart. CellarCart is a WordPress based eCommerce solution installed within the website that has been customized for wine sales. “Over the course of the last year, it became clear that a really basic, entry-level eCommerce solution was needed to help many small wineries get their products directly to the consumer,” said Berry, who is also Chief Strategy Officer for Wine and the Web. “Although our “lite”* version of Vin65 is still our primary product offering for winery eCommerce, many found the copious amounts of features available in Vin65 to actually be too much for those who are just getting their feet wet with online eCommerce.”
The Cellar Cart product provides solutions for small wineries. It allows the winery to manage all website content as easily as creating a Word document, in addition to being able to easily sell wine online and boasts an affordable price. The template-based system sells for $3500, then $99/month for hosting, which includes branding and customizing of the website and ecommerce area for your brand as well as set-up and go-live. “We really wanted a product that was simple, affordable and manageable that does more than just sell wine, and marrying the cart to WordPress just made sense” said Berry. “If you have even four people on your team, it’s likely one of them knows or has used the WordPress platform before.”
CellarCart is hosted exclusively at a WordPress specific web-hosting company, Winehosters, which provides database optimization, nightly back-ups and automatic updates to the WordPress core software for security and stability, something most other website hosts do not provide. The system also benefits from the many functionality plug-ins that are available for the WordPress platform.
