Commute: The Daily Grind

How long are you attached to your car every day? A recent article published by California Watch reported that 2 million Californians are on four wheels for more than 45 minutes a day. Wow.

Do you commute for work? Are you in the car one way for longer than 45 minutes?

If you said yes, chances are, you aren't the only one. According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, 15 million Californians (there are about 37 million of us) commute to work, and at least 2 million of them are stuck a car for 45 minutes or more, California Watch reported today.

Although the biggest concentrations of freeway congestion are reportedly in Los Angeles or Riverside County — both in Southern California — there's no doubt that hoards of people in the Bay Area commute to work, whether that's to San Francisco, Marin or north to Santa Rosa. Just look at 101, 580 or 80 on a weekday. It's maddening.
