In Defense of Turtles

A Sonoma State professor says turtle numbers have plummeted over the last century.

Nick Geist, a professor of biology at , on native and to far-away turtles who live in Sonoma County's local creeks.

Geist underpinned that urban populations have had a dramatic impact on turtle populations, and that conservation is important.

"Western pond turtles are the only native turtle to Sonoma County, but their numbers have plummeted over the last century," according to LandPaths.
