Winds Sweep Sonoma, But Sun in the Skies This Week

How did Sonoma weather the weather last night?

A wind storm with some rainfall swept through Sonoma County last night, part of a widespread front that's headed for the Mountain States.

A downed tree on Sobre Vista Road near Arnold Drive was reported by CHP, though no power outages were reported. In Guerneville and  Healdsburg a few people were without power for a short time, according to PG&E.

The brunt of the winds apparently drove across the Bay Area south of Sonoma, however. Nearly 600 customers are affected in Richmond, and several thousand more throughout the Bay Area remain affected this morning, according to PG&E.

Roughly 4,600 customers in San Francisco were without power as of sunrise, with twice as many powerless farther down the Peninsula.

A wind advisory will be in effect all day today, until 8 p.m.

Still, it might be a good time to count your blessings. Much of the western U.S., from the Dakotas and Montana all the way to Michigan, is under a spring storm warning, with up to two feet of snow expected by tomorrow afternoon.

Partly cloudy skies are likely in the Bay Area this morning. Highs are expected to be in the upper 50s, with northwest winds up to 30 mph with gusts around 45 mph.

The sun will be out most of the day and the rest of the week, but for today at least that wind will continue. Highs are expected to be around 70°, with northwest winds up to 25 mph.  Things warm up mid-week, possibly into the 80’s by Wednesday.
