Aikido is often described as moving Zen. This Japanese martial art flows with the movement of the attack and blends into a pin or throw. Classes are taught from start / stop movement and then slow flowing movement. Safety is emphasized.
Aiki ken (wooden sword) and aiki jo (staff) are also taught to center hips, strengthen arms & legs, improve balance and learn about ma-ai (proper distance). Breathing is also focused upon on to add power and centered energy. Teens and adults welcome.
Les Tallis Sensei has been studying Iwama style aikido for over 16 years and is a 4th degree black belt with the Takemusu Aikido Association.
