Beltane Ranch Story Unfolds at Museum
The intriguing history of Beltane Ranch will be revealed in a talk given by Alexa Wood at the Depot Park Museum on Friday, March 14, at 2 p.m.
Alexa Wood, her mother Rosemary Wood and Rosemary's parents all lived on the property -- once inhabited by Wappo Indians. Alexa continues to live there and runs the Bed and Breakfast while her son Alex manages the vineyards.
Beltane Ranch was once home to the mysterious Mary Ellen Pleasant, who is believed to have run a brothel there. It is now surrounded by gardens, olive orchards and vineyards with grazing horses and cattle, and organically farmed produce gardens that supply food for guests. The March 14 talk is free and open to the public. Depot Park Museum, operated by the Sonoma Valley Historical Society, is located one block north of the Plaza, adjacent to Arnold Field.
