International Petanque champ competes in Sonoma

Local players of the century-old game of Petanque will host a visit by Marco Foyot, a 9-time French national champion.

He will demonstrate skills of the game as well as compete against the best players from Sonoma, Napa and Marin counties. Foyot recently served as technical adviser and actor's coach on Gerard Depardieu's just released film "Les Invincibles."

The event in Sonoma is one stop on Foyot's tour of 12 cities in the U.S.
Event runs 10 am to 4 pm both days. Costs nothing to watch. Boules available if you want to learn the game.
