Orpheus Wines' Tasting Room Grand Opening

Orpheus Wines, the family-owned winery that blends fine art and wine, announces the grand opening of its Tasting Room on July 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Kenwood Village Center in Kenwood, CA.

The opening will feature the intricate and beautiful wire and steel sculptures of internationally renowned artist Steve Lohman, who designed Orpheus’ logo. Each of Orpheus’ wines has a label art inspired by the original wire art Lohman will have on display in the Tasting Room. There will be a drawing to give away one of his sculptures, as well as the opportunity to win t-shirts, wine, and a year membership in the Orpheus wine club.

Also on display will be Orpheus’ unique wine kegs, which will be a permanent fixture at the Tasting Room. Orpheus will always be serving at least two of its tasting wines out of kegs set up behind the handmade musical instrument-inspired maple-topped tasting bar. People will be able to enjoy free tasting of wines such as Orpheus’ signature Red Over Heels red blend, Viognier, and a semi-sparkling Orange Muscat.

Those looking for some music while they sample the wine are in luck. Local musicians will gather to provide a delightful soundtrack for the occasion.

Husband and wife team Marc Krafft and Rachel Summer Claire Friedman started Orpheus in 2011 with Lohman as the third partner. Krafft, a winemaker, and Friedman, a holistic family doctor, wanted to create a purpose-driven business that would contribute something positive to the community while giving Krafft a medium for expressing his passion for winemaking coupled with his love for music and art.

“We are not just another winery making wine,” Friedman said. “We’re mission-driven. We’re creating a winery as something that is promoting and representing artistry, community, and sustainability. Our wine story is about people connecting and celebrating life; and we use these ideals to guide both our wine production and our business practices.”
