Sonoma Readers Theatre in association with Sonoma Theatre Alliance as part of its "Summer Nights" series, will close its season of three staged readings with "Wit" by Margaret Edson.
Vivian Bearing, Ph.D., a renowned professor of English who has spent years studying and teaching the brilliant and difficult metaphysical sonnets of John Donne, has been diagnosed with terminal ovarian canacer. Her approach to the study of Donne: aggressively probing, intensely rational. But during the course of her illness - and stint as a prize patient in an experimental chemotherapy program at a major teaching hospital - Vivian comes to reassess her life and her work with a profundity and humor that are transformative both for her and her audience.
Directed by Butch Engle, the cast features Nellie Cravens, Rhonda Guaraglia, Richard Thompson and Francesca Weiner.
Admission is $14. Tickets are on sale at the svbo.org website, by calling (707) 938-4626, ext. 1, or at the door the evening of the performance.
