Stompers and Baseball Featured at the Depot Park Museum

A new exhibit has opened at the Sonoma Valley Historical Society's Depot Park Museum.  It combines the old with the new, and is titled, "Welcome Sonoma Stompers:  Baseball, Then and Now."

Sonoma Valley residents have enjoyed baseball from Sonoma Union High team to hosting Spring Training professional players at Boyes Springs.  The San Francisco Seals came here in 1924 and a grandstand was built in Boyes Springs so all could enjoy the games.  The Oakland Oaks and Oakland Acorns also stayed here enjoying the "salubrious climate."  The exhibit reflects the valley's enthusiasm for the sport withhold photos, flyers and press articles on the various teams.

Now we have our own Sonoma Stompers right next door at Arnold Field.  The exhibit shows photos of the ball players and reflects the various countries and states from which they come.
