What Do You Think of 'The Bachelor' This Season? Blog on Patch!

Review of 'The Bachelor,' starring Sonoma's Ben Flajnik.

NOTE: This blog was updated on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, to add a call-out for anyone in the community who watches 'The Bachelor' with its current Sonoma County and Bay Area focus to continue this blog, which I started last week. Any takers?

Last night's episode of 'The Bachelor' with local boy had several redeeming qualities -- unlike the

Film shots of Ben and a date walking in downtown Sonoma, dining at the restaurant and watching home movies at  were wonderful.

So was a "Community Theater" play put on by Ben and 12 potential mates -- directed by a group of awesome local school kids!

The auditions for the show were priceless: "Can you be a wizard?"  one "director" asked a beautiful contestant.

"Act like a hippie," another pint-sized "director" told one woman.

Made me wish that a Healdsburg "Bachelor" were selected so that Healdsburg -- and the and downtown Plaza -- could be part of the show.

(Maybe we could convince a winner to audition for the next "The Bachelor" show?)

If you didn't see it, here's a link to the episode:

If you did see it, what do you think?

All in all I think it is almost a travel piece--it made Sonoma look like the place of everyone's dream.

I am not someone who follows "the Bachelor" on TV. But I did check the Sonoma date because I was curious. And it did make Sonoma look almost as wonderful as it is.

I have never watched the Bachelor before. But after the preview, I felt I should see the Sonoma edition. And Sonoma looked great. But I probably would not watch if Sonoma were not featured in some way.

It was great to see Sonoma featured so well on the show. But the "dating" part just proved once again why these relationships never work out . . . the one who is chosen is the person who knows how to "play the game" the best. Needless to say, that person is never the right match for the bachelor! It was sad to see that our nice-guy Ben fell for this season's player, Courtney. She was unkind to all the girls and was so narcissistic, she simply is not the kind of person that Ben will be happy with in the long run.

I think there are a million better ways to show off Sonoma then on some tacky "reality" show.
