Sonoma County is currently considering implementing an energy program called Sonoma Clean Power. The primary objective of this program is to provide a choice of electricity providers. Similar programs have been successfully deployed in communities across the nation, ranging from Cape Cod, Mass. to Northeast Ohio, to Marin County. Because programs like Sonoma Clean Power are funded by ratepayers, there is minimal risk to city or county general funds.

As we research the development of a local energy program in Sonoma County, it is with the assumption that it will aim to derive electricity from a greater mix of renewable energy sources. In addition to greater investment in renewables, other ancillary benefits of a local energy program could include the creation of more local careers, enhanced economic development through the reinvestment of program rates back into the community, and increased electricity rate stability.

Go here for a brief, 12-question poll. It should take less than five minutes of your time to respond and we assure you that your responses are anonymous and you cannot be identified in any way.
