Marin Blogger Throws Down: Are Sonoma Doggie-Bags Too Chic?

Novato Patch blogger Cristine Scioli claims to have done endless research on regional doggie bags, and has some choice words for Sonoma.

In a blog posted today on Novato Patch, Marin county producer makes a number of claims that strain credulity:

First off, she claims Novato "hosts the best Fourth of July parade."

Then she says they also have the "best summer art, wine and music festival," whatever that means.

But she applies the coup de grace to our local pride when she dares to dis our doggies' poop bags.

Finally, the City of Sonoma doggie poop bags add another dimension to the debate. These bags belong in Beverly Hills or Brentwood, not anywhere in Sonoma County! Also bright blue, but slightly thinner than the above-mentioned, they are scented. (Her emphasis) Yep, some sort of probably toxic chemical has been added to these bags so the user doesn’t have to smell the poop, which has been retrieved but not yet dumped.

Then, without further cause, she appends some speculation on the reason for this enhancement to our pet pride:

I believe this little tourist filled town had a very conscious reason to buy and disseminate these fresh smelling bags. They want the tourists to go back home to their countries and cities where there are no such things as doggie poop bags, and tell their friends and neighbors all about this beautiful place where everything smells great – absolutely everything. And so they in turn will plot and plan and save their pennies to visit this fragrant city.
