Boy on Bike, 4, Hit in Sonoma Plaza Crosswalk
Thursday evening at about 6:20 p.m., police and an ambulance were called to the corner of West Napa and First St West, at the southwest corner of the Healdsburg Plaza, to treat a 4-year old boy who was reportedly struck in the crosswalk while riding his bike.
Apparently the driver of a car travelling west on Napa St. was unable to see the boy in the cross-walk because of “direct sunlight in her view,” according to the Press Democrat.
According to Sgt. Spencer Crum of the Sonoma Police Department, he was in the east cross walk across Napa headed from the Plaza toward the Bank of America. “He was hit, knocked down, and taken to the hospital as a precaution,” he said.
The boy was with his mother at the time, according to Sonoma Police. He was wearing a helmet and suffered only minor injuries. None of the parties involved have been identified but the incident remains under investigation.
