Burn Permit Suspension Lifted due to Weather

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit has lifted the burn suspension in the State Responsibility Areas (SRA) of the Unit, which includes the County of Sonoma. The lifting of the suspension was initiated on Oct. 26.

In cooperation with the CAL FIRE, the Sonoma County Fire Chief will simultaneously rescind the burn suspension in Local Responsibility Areas of the County of Sonoma. The recent weather has alleviated the dry fuel conditions which triggered the permit suspension earlier in the summer. 

With the lifting of the burn suspension in the SRAs, residents who hold valid CAL FIRE permits may resume burning, subject to the regulations of their local fire departments and air quality districts. Applicants seeking a burn permit should contact their local fire department for detailed information. Property owners who burn outside of the regulations, or allow a fire to escape, may be subject to legal penalties.
